4 HealthKit Data

favorite
Apple HealthKit: strict data protections apply

LifeCheck reads health data from Apple HealthKit to display your personal health summary within the app, and writes workout completions back to HealthKit when you log one. HealthKit data is never shared with any third party, is never uploaded to any server, and is never used for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to providing health features directly to you.

Specifically, regarding Apple HealthKit data:

  • What we read. LifeCheck requests permission to read health data types including step count, workout sessions, sleep analysis, heart rate, active energy burned, and body weight.
  • What we write. LifeCheck requests permission to write a single data type: workout sessions. When you mark a workout task complete, LifeCheck saves that workout to Apple Health so your activity stays in one place. It writes nothing else, and it never deletes or modifies data written by other apps.
  • Stays on your device. Health data read from HealthKit is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to Firebase, Sentry, RevenueCat, Expo, or any other service.
  • Never used for advertising. HealthKit data will not be used for advertising, marketing, or advertising networks of any kind.
  • Never sold. HealthKit data is never sold or disclosed for any commercial purpose.
  • Permission is optional. You may deny or revoke HealthKit access at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → LifeCheck. Core app features (tasks, habits, goals) remain fully functional without health access.
  • Compliance with Apple guidelines. Our use of HealthKit data complies with Apple's HealthKit framework requirements and the App Store Review Guidelines.

We do not sell personal data

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information to any third party for their own commercial purposes. This applies to all users, including California residents covered by the CCPA.

6 Data Retention & Deletion

historyHow long we retain your data

We retain your account data and user-generated content for as long as your account is active. Push notification tokens are refreshed and may be updated by iOS periodically. Usage and crash data (if collected) is retained according to Firebase's default retention periods, typically 14 months.

Most of what LifeCheck stores (your tasks, habits, streaks, completion history, preferences, your name and optional age range, and anything you type yourself such as Life Audit answers, life-event entries and task notes) is written to your device first. If you are signed in and cloud backup is enabled, a copy of that data is also uploaded to your private area of our database so it can be restored when you reinstall the app or sign in on another device. Nobody else can read it.

That backup is deleted along with everything else when you delete your account. Data that stays on the device only, such as notification scheduling identifiers and one-off interface flags, is removed when you delete the app or clear its data in iOS Settings.

Health data is the exception: information read from Apple Health is never included in the backup and never leaves your device.

delete_foreverDeleting your account & data

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data. You can request this by:

  • In-app deletion (if available): Navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account within LifeCheck.
  • Email request: Send an account deletion request via the contact channel listed in the Contact Us section, from the email address associated with your account.

Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will delete your account, email address, all user-generated content (tasks, habits, goals, notes, life events), social connections, messages, and push notification token from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as preventing fraud).

Please note: deleting your account within the app does not cancel an active subscription. To manage or cancel your subscription, go to iPhone Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions.
